Minneapolis is located in Hennipin county. Downtown Minneapolis is a vibrant place, featuring professional sports teams(the Minnesota Twins, Timber Wolves and Vikings), plus cultural centers(the Guthrie Theatre, and Orchestra Hall) and the University of Minnesota. Corporations include Target, U.S. Bancorp and General Mills.

Residents are served by a new light rail transit system and the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport, located on the city's southeastern border.
Southwest of downtown is the popular Chain of Lakes area. Extensive walking trails and public parks line the shores of Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isles. There are stately homes with lake views an more modest homes within in walking distance of the lakes. More than 1 million people live in Hennipin County.
Nearby communities include Edina, St. Anthony and Golden Valley. Outlying suburbs include Bloomington, Eden Prarie and Minnetonka. The seven county metro area is home to three million people, as well as the Minnesota Zoo, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and the Mall of America. The region has received several awards. It has been named: the most affordable place in America to live well; the top metro area in the country for business and one of the best places for young professionals.
